The Process of Obtaining a Residence Permit in Turkey

Foreigners must have a “residence permit” in order to live legally in Turkey.

Residence permit applications are made at the Turkish Consulates in the country of your citizenship.

The person who will apply for a residence permit must have a passport with a validity of 60 (sixty) days or longer.

Applications received by the relevant consulate are sent to the General Directorate of Migration Management (“General Directorate”). The General Directorate notifies the relevant consulate according to the result of the application.

In addition, applications are concluded within 90 days. In case of negative applications, the General Directorate notifies the relevant person regarding the rejection of the application.
